CMAI aims to build a skilled workforce for all mobility sectors in Canada. CMAI’s mission is to improve the quality of skills development across the country’s mobility industries.
At its launch, CMAI was founded by Bell Textron, Bombardier, CAE, Pratt & Whitney Canada, and Siemens Energy to address needs in the aerospace sector. They were instrumental to our success, and we continue to maintain a relationship of trust with each of these companies eight years later. Since 2018, CMAI has expanded its impact to other mobility sectors and established partnerships with various companies.
IMACA organizes three major programs: AéroConnecte, Horizon Rail, and the Competencies Forum.
AéroConnecte is an event that offers an immersive experience in the aerospace world and aims to connect students, industry professionals, and educational institutions; engage the next generation and the workforce in hands-on activities; and promote technical and professional careers in aerospace. Over 4,000 people attended the last two editions.
The Horizon Rail Program brings together key players in Canada’s rail sector. Its goal is to connect the rail industry, students, and universities. This program includes the awarding of industry scholarships, notably a $3,000 scholarship and several micro-WILs, as well as networking events with our academic partners such as Polytechnique Montréal and Ontario Tech University.
The Competencies Forum is a major event designed to bring together industry representatives, academics, and students to address issues related to the next generation of talent and future skills in the rail and aerospace sectors. The Forum has been held annually since 2022.
Thanks to our presence in the rail sector, we have successfully built strong ties with TRACCS, among others.
Based on our mission, we have created workplace integrated learning (WIL) activities. CMAI and its members organize internships, mini-WILs, and micro-WILs for students. These align with the needs of each mobility industry while complementing post-secondary education.
CMAI has built a central platform called Placement SPOT that brings together all our activities. This tool was developed with the support of member companies to enable the posting of internships, the management of applications, and customized activities.
